Test

To My Fellow Citizens of Orange County

After receiving great support from friends and fellow citizens, I have decided to run for Mayor of Orange County.

Despite our economic situation, Orange County is on the brink of starting an exciting new era with the development of our Medical City, in the areas of education, research and health services, that will create thousands of high paying jobs and will reinvigorate our local economy.

Our region will experience tremendous change in the next decade, much like we saw with the arrival of Disney nearly 40 years ago. Orange County Government will have to adapt and prepare for this next wave of growth and prosperity. Like any other organization, large or small, government must also adjust to the changing times or will risk becoming stagnant and not servicing the needs of our community. I strongly belief that, in many cases, government should be run like a business and my background as a corporate executive with IBM for 25 years, in addition to all my other leadership roles listed on my resume, including serving as Orange County Commissioner for District 3, have prepared me to direct the Administration of this County.

As Mayor, one of my first tasks will be to transform the role of the Mayor of Orange County. With a government the size of Orange County’s, the responsibility of the Mayor must be primarily to overseeing the administration and setting policy that ensures the citizens’ well being.

The main responsibility of the Mayor should not include being on many different governmental executive boards.

I will also seek to streamline our government to make it more efficient. I have already looked into various ways to improve our transportation and county roads. I have also requested input from the private sector to identify new methods that will enhance all of our County’s services from public safety to health services.

It has been an honor and privilege to serve as an Orange County Commissioner since 2004. With your support, I will continue working hard to make Orange County a better place to live, work and play.

During the campaign, I look forward to hearing from you, our citizens, our business owners, and our visitors.

Thank you very much, and I count on your vote at the

Primaries on August 24th, 2010

Warm Regards,

Mildred Fernandez
